A compressible fluid easily changes its density and volume under different pressures. To calculate the hydrostatic pressure of a compressible fluid the ideal gas law would be used.

Hydrostatic force on a fluid element due to a compressible fluid (1)

P2 = Hydrostatic Pressure

P1 = Initial Pressure

g = gravitational constant

(z2 - z1) = Fluid Head

R = Ideal Gas Constant

To = Average Temperature
