Impulse and momentum creates a relationship between a force acting on a particle and its velocity. The impulse represents the force on a particle integrated over time, while the momentum represents the velocity of the particle in respect to its mass. A simple way to view this is to consider Newton's Law of motion "For every action there is an opposite reaction." Refer to equation 1 to view the relation between impulse and momentum for a single particle.
