Dynamics is the study of motion and how acceleration relates to forces. There are two discrete areas of dynamics. These are the study of kinematics and the study of kinetics.
Kinematics is purely the study of motion. Studying kinetics you would learn how to determine an objects position, velocity, and acceleration in respect to time. Forces are not included in kinematics.
Kinetics on the other hand is the study of acceleration and force. You need to have an understanding of kinematics before you try to learn kinetics, considering kinematics will provide the accelerations that you would need to calculate forces. You will learn about Newton's Second law when studying kinetics. You will also learn about energy, impulse, and momentum.
